All of us at Keiko Conservation have had their life changed by one of our canine companions, so we began a small side chapter to bring awareness to some of the dogs who are still in need of a fur-ever home and to share ways you can help protect our fluffy friends!

Tuesday, March 12, the Senate Ways and Means Committee and the House Finance Committee will hold a briefing on applications for grants for many non-profits, including the Hawaiian Humane Society (HHS), which is asking for $700,000 for completion of phase 1 of their new campus on the leeward coast. HHS mention in their application that their unencumbered assets are nearly $31 million.  We want to urge the committee members to NOT grant them any more money in light of the recent allegations of excessive euthanasia and improper and abusive treatment of staff. Animal Rights Hawaii (ARGH) found three open suits in state court involving HHS. Committee members need to learn this before they decide to dole out taxpayer dollars.

ARH is asking that you contact the Chair and members of both committees expressing your opposition to the HHS request. There are multiple other pet rescue organizations on the islands that would utilize a grant like this much better.

English Translation Of Petition:

This morning an atrocity and abuse of authority was committed when a police offer shot a dog owned by a homeless kid. Sota is dead, Sota was the only one this boy had. Furthermore, the Municipal Police have also beaten the boy. We demand an investigation, a sanction, and in this case, the dismissal of the member of the Urban Police who has murdered Sota.
